Mt. San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo is the second highest mountain in Patagonia, culminating at 3706m and one of the most spectacular with its enormous mushroom shaped snow ridges near the summit. It is more a mountain range than a single summit. The mountain is completely separated from the Northern Patagonian Ice Cap and can be seen as the last big summit to the east of the Andes before the endless plains of Argentine Patagonia. There are many interesting peaks in the region, many of them still unclimbed.
This is a very committed expedition, with a technical ascent, poor weather and huge glaciers. We will depart from the small town of Cochrane and move to Puesto San Lorenzo where the ascent will really begin.
Cerro San Lorenzo is a fantastic adventure for ski mountaineers. The ascent itself requires 5-6 days if conditions are good, but we recommend 3-4 extra days in case of bad weather.
